Saving the world

So capitalism has gone horribly wrong. With the fiat currencies all undermining themselves we're entering a phase of global market chaos. We need some solid stability and I've an idea that should go steps in that direction. Its just a way of people creating their own money within a trading network of trusted peers. Its fairly simple, maybe too simply but I want to take a crack at it. The basic unit of currency would be the human-hour, but will operate in a free market environment where people will set their own prices. One of the problems with hours currencies as I've seen them described is that in their systems an hour is an hour no matter what. So a broom pushing hour is valued the same as a fire fighting hour. I dont think so. In real life it doesnt work like that as I would value the firefighters services much more than the caretakers. Well, if I was on fire. haha. Also, childcare for 1 kid for an hour is worth less than me caring for 3 kids in that same hour. The market will determine the pricing. And since its based on the hour it can't be inflationary (or self devaluing which is the real truth).

We're doomed unless we act

So nobody is ready to act because frankly it just isnt that bad yet here. Its actually pretty good for most people. You know, food, water, shelter, all these things can be obtained fairly easily, though we usually do have to work hard to keep them coming. But what if all that changes? We're lucky to have stability now but the corporations and governments of the world are contributing to an instability for the working class people and eventually we wont have anything left. The corpos will have taken it all and claimed its theirs to sell back to us. Man I need to quit smoking pot so I can figure this out more solidy, but frankly I'm a little scared to. What I figure though is that the existing systems of governance and money (capitalism is part of the money system) are corrupted beyond repair, they can't be fixed from within their frameworks and something new needs to start. I cant do it by myself. I dont know even where to begin. Part of me thinks the only way for a new civilization to rise is by firmly planting roots somewhere and defending those roots at all costs. So that means staking out a good sizeable chunk of seemingly unused land and basically setting up shop. Grow crops, mine for minerals, and start a new country. And that new country within a country needs to be defended because you know the corpos wont stand for any of their land which they lay a claim to being simply taken over by a bunch of landless hippies. So we'll need to defend our newly claimed turn so that we can make improvements to the land and have the stability of being able to make use of those improvements for our livelyhoods. The shrub once talked about his political capital he needed to spend around the US presidential selection time -- well maybe we need social capital. A system of capitalism where its the people, not the big moneylenders, who actually decide what jobs are worth doing and then provide the incentive to get those jobs done. Capital based on reputation and real work of value.

But to defend an enclave like this against outside agressors we'll have to take up arms. I propose 3 month tours of duty followed by 9 months of living life and being a productive member of the community. If you act like a moron, hurt people, are too selfish, or otherwise do things that would justifiably result in some kind of punishment, then the community would need to decide to banish you or not. Other than that, people would do what they wanted and everyone's deeds would be open to scrutiny.

I'm sick of working for some corporation within the crooked framework of capitalism. I could try to run my own show, but then I'd just be more a part of the problem.

Perhaps some sabotage is the way to get things going. Take out telecom switches. Prevent trains from running. Stop the couriers. Stop the brinks trucks. Stop everything. Shut it down.

Well we all know its going to get a lot worse before it gets any better, so perhaps we can help it along. Thats why I'm always so upbeat about the price of oil rising or the US dollar tanking. The sooner this shit is over with the sooner we can more to our bright green future, but its going to be a tough road and it could be hard surviving.
