Taxes Bullshit

GST Rate went down by 1% ... thats a good thing right? Not so fast. Income tax went up. Motherfuckers. I take home about $10 less per month now. To get that back in GST savings means I'd have to piss out $1000 on GSTaxable chinese merchandise or whatever per month, which I dont. I bet I dont even spent $200 per month on GST taxable crap.

I think I'm going to tell my boss that he needs to just do whatever he needs to do to put my net pay back exactly where it was. Pay cut my shiny metal ass.

Steady state society possible?

I wonder if ever there was a steady state society that relied on a usury based money system. Conversely, I wonder if there was ever a perpetual growth society that didnt.

I assert this all goes back to how money works. Usury drives surplus (can't pay back more money than there is haha, so how bout a bit of extra grain so I can keep my land?!). Surplus drives population increase (more food = more people). Fossil fuel detritus has become the enabler of great surplus and allowed this paradigm to play out even further.

I think it all goes back to usury money.

Daniel Yergin Day

Today is officially Daniel Yergin Day. Back in Nov 04 he was quoted as saying we were headed towards $38 per barrel. Guess what, today we hit $76 per barrel, doubling that forcast. Yeehaw. Olduvai here we come.

Update: Wow this got dated fast. Later on in the same day it spiked to $78.40. Thats right, blew through $76 reocrd, blew through $77 record, and then on through $78 all in the same day. This is spike all about the MiddleEast Mayhem of course. What will happen when we throw some GOM hurricanes into the mix? Higher of course. Shit man.

A quick point of clarity.

Westexas in a TOD comment says:

Fossil fuels can be viewed as a continuum: natural gas; natural gas liquids; condensate; light, sweet crude; heavy, sour crude; bitumen and coal. This ia a progression from gas, to liquid to solid--also from cleanest to dirtiest.

Note that light sweet is right in the middle, with three components on either side. Light, sweet will give us the most liquid transportation fuels for the least expenditure of capital and energy. Thus, it was the first to peak.

I post this here only because I do think it important to note a small detail about the sources of our energy, and how we of course take the low hanging fruit first. Now, time to ride the downslope to olduvai.

Been a while - heres an update

TV has been pretty non-exsistent lately. The only regular show to me that is worth watching besides the usual TCR and TDS is Hells Kitchen, and I couldnt tell you what about it I like. He yells at them. They work together. I think thats what I like actually about Survivor, The Apprentice and Hells Kitchen, the only 3 "reality" shows I like, and its I think beacuse it shows how people can co-operate. And it shows how they sometimes dont/can't. I just like them.

Anyways, TDS and TCR have been off for like 2 weeks which has really sucked. So much so that it possibly inspired me to stop smoking pot.

Yeah thats right I havent smoked any buddah since Friday July 7 2006. After I break my record maybe I'll toke a little, but I kinda dont like having to deal with replenishing the stash, and I really dont like the supreme amounts of wasted time that pot has contributed for me. I mean, I know it helps me sleep. It helps me eat too, b/c I dont really like to eat unless I'm super hungry, and then its just to not be hungry. But with pot I'm stuffing my gut all eventing and its adding up. So enough. I stopped now for hopefully a while. Maybe also I'll be remotivated to do something real in the phyical world. Like start a secession / independance group and start a counrty. Ha.

Oh speaking of countries, North Korea sucks. This CNN docuthingy is sorta interesteing, though as a SOS commenter points out they have really blown a 20 minute doco into a 40 minute one throuh CNNerry. Whatever, its still interesting to see footage from inside that big prison camp of NK. Kim Jong Il: You will die a horrible death when your people literally tear you apart and eat you while you watch.
