A quick point of clarity.

Now, time to ride the downslope to olduvai.Fossil fuels can be viewed as a continuum: natural gas; natural gas liquids; condensate; light, sweet crude; heavy, sour crude; bitumen and coal. This ia a progression from gas, to liquid to solid--also from cleanest to dirtiest.
Note that light sweet is right in the middle, with three components on either side. Light, sweet will give us the most liquid transportation fuels for the least expenditure of capital and energy. Thus, it was the first to peak.
